This recipe is super easy with only two ingredients, three if want darker colors. If your aren’t gluten intolerant, you could also make homemade scented play dough. A little contrast and comparison of the two doughs – the gluten-free dough has a very smooth texture, it may even make your hands feel soapy. The regular homemade play dough has a more solid consistency compared to the gluten-free, but doesn’t make your hands feel soapy. My kids thought both doughs were fun to play with.
Here’s the recipe:
1 cup corn starch
1/2 cup hair conditioner
Mix the ingredients together. Knead the dough until consistent.
You may add food coloring to the center of a disc of the play dough and the knead that in to create a darker color. I wore plastic gloves when kneading the coloring in because I didn’t want to get it on my hands.
The homemade scented play dough is in the background and the ingredients for gluten-free play dough in the foreground.
I added a drop of green food coloring to this bottom chunk after taking this picture.
