Fireweed Juice and Fireweed Syrup

Ingredients

Fireweed Juice

  • 1½ cups water
  • 1 cup fireweed flowers tightly packed

Fireweed Syrup

  • 1 cup fireweed juice
  • 2 cups sugar

Instructions

Fireweed Juice

  • 1. Rinse and drain the fireweed flowers. Add to a pot with the water and simmer this mixture until the color has been removed from the flowers.
  • 2. Drain the flower and water mixture in cheesecloth in a strainer and bowl. I like to wait until this has cooled before wringing out the excess fluid. After this, there should be around 1 cup of this juice.

Fireweed Syrup

  • 1. Place the fireweed juice and sugar into a pot. Bring this to a slow boil until the sugar has dissolved. Pour into desired container(s).
