I’ll keep this post short and sweet. These recipes can be used to make my Fireweed Lemonade recipe, or the syrup can be drizzled on some ice cream or however else you would use some really sugary floral syrup.
Fireweed Tea and Fireweed Syrup
- 1½ cups water
- 1 cup fireweed flowers tightly packed
- 1 cup fireweed tea
- 2 cups sugar
- 1. Rinse and drain the fireweed flowers. Add to a pot with the water and simmer this mixture until the color has been removed from the flowers.
- 2. Drain the flower and water mixture in cheesecloth in a strainer and bowl. I like to wait until this has cooled before wringing out the excess fluid. After this, there should be around 1 cup of this tea.
- 1. Place the fireweed tea and sugar into a pot. Bring this to a slow boil until the sugar has dissolved. Pour into desired container(s).
